Wiltshire Council to Abandon Sport and Leisure Facilities

On Wednesday night @RussellHawker an independent councillor on Wiltshire Council, Tweeted that the CEO of Wiltshire Council was a tad upset that the Wiltshire Times had broken an embargo on a report about Sports and Leisure Facilities in Wiltshire.

Wiltshire Council is a monolithic super council covering  500,000 people and if anyone can tell me it is a local council then they obviously do not have any comprehension of the geougraphic size of the county. It can take several hours by bus to go from one location to the other.

The fact is that the #Condem Coalitions plan called  Bull Shit  Big Society is a con  is disingenuous if the council cannot run these facilities how do you expect the small rural communities and market towns of Wiltshire to support them? If the people and communities cannot afford to run them; will they then be sold to the highest bidder?

Is this just  another way of doing them up to sell them off to Business privatization through the back door? Is doing Business the #condem way is Thatcherization with a vengence? By 2017 Wiltshire Council will have divested itself from Sports and Leisure Facilities and possibly Libtraries etc as now this has started where does it end?

If Wiltshire Council dumps its duties and responsibilities like this why does there need to be a council? Let alone a Beamoth like WC determined to destroy its community capital.

A Crumb of Comfort?

Life is probably harder to balance the budget  now than 3 months ago in the star chamberinner circle of Swindon Borough Council executive (cabinet). Plebeians Backbench As a frontline councillor I believe I am being mushroomed  in what I can only describe politely as perceived darkness.  Frontline staff are worrying about their futures and  apart from a few memos they are hearing nothing about the situation in any detail  about any cut to any service and jobs.  The public too are worrying about their services, and the deafening silence.

Some departments are searching every nook and cranny to identify every last pound in the system.  Can the executive (cabinet) find any unattended piles of cash hiding in a budget closet somewhere? What I do know is that there will be all staff briefings and there will be an October Budget, the Condem coalition government have cut 1.4 million from the budget which is less than 1% of the total budget.

To be fair I do not think there is much fat in the system and over the last 4 years there was a programme of leaning the sytem. I believe we are at  a level where it looks like Pickle’s £1.4 million shortchanging starving of funds in an already malnourished body will bring about a famine cut  reduction of services in Swindon. Pickles has hit the people of Swindon hard by emptying the larder; leaving just a few crumbs to be hoovered up!

Don’t Feed the Kids to Save Money

I look at the #condem coalition government and the despicable Gove bloke (is he for real? Ifirst thought that when I met him 4 years ago) Gove and the #condem coalition appear to be  thinking that if any family have got a 30 year mortgage and want to pay it off in 20 years, the answer is simple just stop feeding the kids.

Its politically immature and quite simply more Thatcherite than Thatchernomics and is straight  from the Tory Libdem economic kidology manual. Its kids faults that Labour  have a deficit, and in the public sector low paid women will bear the brunt of wage cuts, pension cuts and eventually job losses.

 New schools have been slashed school meal funding is being transferred to other Gove projects its simply outrageous and this shortchanging of people will continue until the Gerrymandering of electoral boundaries start and they force the  AV system onto the public by fear.

For me personally  it is first past the post or proportional representation AV is shitea #contrick by the coalition.

Think on: This is just the start and I think that in 2 years time I like a lot of people in this country will be extremely angry with #condem and its supporters.

LibDems have they Decamped from Politics?

The #Condem coalition have their budget on Tuesday the Libdem lapdog ferver  surprise me as not one peep from them about the cuts and a likely VAT increase. Can anyone like me recall their Bombshell poster (an idea they nicked?) it claimed under the Tories you  will be paying more VAT. Now it will be Conservatives and LibDems that will make you do it.  Also it is alleged in the FT that Labour people Hutton, Hoey and Field are now being denounced   by Lord John Prescott  associated with Condem coalition strange political times me thinks?

The Libdems appear to have decamped from politics since the Birmingham conference they held. The old political warhorses (former leaders) are they out to grass?
