Wi-fi Full Council is the fallout continuing?
It was an interesting full council and I refer you to this link http://www.talkswindon.org/index.php?topic=5683.msg37422#new Its quite enternaing and a bit tongue in cheek in places but quite truthful.

Wi-fi is now approved and the money has been authorised to extend the roll out, outwards from Highworth. It has been a busy week and even though there are elections in progress, wi-fi still appears to be hogging some time.
Monday Night it was scrutiny
Tuesday it was internal Audit
Thursday it is Council at 7pm Civic Offices Euclid Street Swindon SN1 2JH.
www.talkswindon.org is still following the wi-fi saga. Or Komadori http://www.komadori.me.uk/2010/04/unaudited.html
Yesterday I was asked by Anne Snelgrove MP to come to her launch. I went along as I have never been part of the political herd moving like wildebeests from waterhole to waterhole on a veld somewhere. I am independent and not affiliated to any party. I am not a member of any political party. I went along to the launch to comment on Anne’s case working as a constituency MP. Anne has worked hard for the people of south Swindon with I believe an average of 2000+ active cases per year. This in not enquiries this is cases actually being worked on by an MP. Helping people in Toothill and Westlea with all sorts of issues from flooding and immigration enquiries to benefits etc. As Mayor she supported me with Veterans Awareness Week and we planted some trees together in Lydiard, as well as other help.
Her stance on the Wi-fi may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but she has taken up the case of local small business people and ordinary members of the public that have questioned the council’s role in respect of Wi-fi. I have not endorsed Anne and I have not recommended that people vote in any way in this election or for any political party, it is a matter for them. I can assure you as an independent that my vote will be between me and my conscience as I put the X on the ballot paper in the polling booth on May 6th.
The Swindon Advertiser covered the event and quoted me as:
Coun Wakefield, who resigned from the Conservative party in January, said: “Anne asked me to come along today, not to endorse her in the traditional way, but in recognition of the fact that Anne as been a very good constituency MP for Swindon.”
The Toothilland Westlea councillor, who served as mayor in 2008/09, said she had particularly helped in his wards with issues like flooding in Moresby Close and Benwell Close.
“As my MP she has also helped my family with one or two issues they have had and I am grateful for that and I would say that she listened to small business people and to ordinary members of the public from my ward who have not been happy with the issue over wi-fi and other matters and because of that I’m happy to come along and say to people that yes, Anne Snelgrove has been a good constituency MP and very good for the people of Toothill and Westlea.”
Andy Newman was also there and actually I get along with him, and yes he has a different political view point from me. I work for local people not political parties. Therfore I will work with all parties to achieve what is best and proper for the people of Toothill and Westlea.
Tribalism and Dogma of the political kind are waning in the 21st century well I believe so and its an opinion that I am not afraid to hide. The whole article from the Swindon Advertiser is here:-

Thursday Nights Scrutiny has proved to still be cowering under a mushroom cloud of fallout as bits flutter down and land amongst those interested parties.
As ever Komadori’s Blog: http://www.komadori.me.uk/2010/04/deferred.html continues to prick the council wi-fi project in the side and very well written I must say.
Cllr Des Moffat Labour Western said Wi-fi(asco) latest here: http://ow.ly/1×1Zl Des is on Scrutiny so it is good to see his account as a member of scrutiny.
Cllr Bob Wright http://ow.ly/1×1Zl view on Wi-fi
