It would now appear that Network Rail and FGW do not support the provision of a Station at Sparcells. SBC officers will make a respresentation to Wiltshire Council and the Developers. As I have said elsewhere there will be no station and Wiltshire Council will dump all its new houses on Swindon Doorstep. I am being honest and realistic but please feel free to prove me wrong.

Last Night I went along to the Shaw and Ninelms Ward to Roughmoor Village Hall to see the DPDS Consultation on the development of Ridgeway Farm, by Taylor Wimpey. I must say that the event was well organised and to be fair DPDS and everyone there from the consultation team, were professional and very open about the development.
I was concerned to find that the Sparcells Station on the mainline and with a link to the Swindon & Cricklade Railway was missing? I have today contacted Swindon Borough Council on behalf of the Shaw and Nine Elms councillors for a response to this missing station. I have asked for a reply and that it should be copied into the ward cllrs, who I know support the provision of the station.

The Government has announced some cuts that could cause problems for Swindon’s regeneration. I am sure our conservative MPs will be finding out and making representations on Swindon’s behalf?
